Pentax Firmware Update

Good news Pentax lovers, the camera manufacturer just released new information about their newest addition to their firmware line for the K200D, K20D, K2000/K-m and K10D. The firmware you buy would depend on what kind of model you have. What makes many photographers happy is that this K-series DSLR firmware improves recording image stability for SDHC memory cards. If you already have the firmware for your Pentax digital SLR camera, you can get your free update at Pentax’s website.

Just make sure that you choose the right update version though. You can also get an update for your K-7 firmware and  can get Pentax RAW codec for windows.

What’s New from Ubermind

If you are iPhone fan, you must have heard of Ubermind before. The company behind the apps Perfectly Clear and Best Camera, recently released their very first iPad application –Masque. This simple yet uber cool photo editor makes use of the iPad’s technology by incorporating a multi-touch gradient tool. Users can select where a gradient starts and where it ends. And with the use of two or more fingers you can edit photos without clicking on anything. Your fingers can control the size of the photo, can change the contrast or the photo’s hue. That may be great for those who are used to such technology but for some who are not so adept with it will not be able to make it work out in just a few minutes of iPad exposure.

The iPad does not have its own camera though but putting your picture files in its system and editing it with Ubermind’s Masque can get some of  your photo editing tasks done.

News from Eye-Fi

Eye-Fi just announced the release of 2 of its newest SDHC cards last March 23rd. These cards boast a large storage without it slowing down. When transferring data specifically large photos, these 2 cards can handle it and can transfer or receive data in a speedy fashion.

Eye-Fi’s Connect X2 is equipped with a 4 GB memory and has class 6 speeds. Apart from that it is even capable of uploading photos wirelessly. Cool, eh? Now you can transfer photos from your SDHC card to any photo sharing website and even post them in your favorite social networking site. The second card called the Eye-Fi Explore X2 has double the memory of its brother, has geotagging and a year of free internet access. It can upload photos online on its own as well.

The Eye-Fi Connecct X2 costs $49 while the faster Explore X2 is $99. If you do not know who Eye-Fi is, the company is the maker of the very first wireless memory card. The first card was of course built for digital cameras.

Nik Software and Webinar

The one hour photography classes, 6 classes all in all are a great way for newbies and professionals to learn new tricks when taking photos. The webinar will start on April the 8th and will run twice a month until June the 17th.

Along with the webinar is a 15-day trial version of Nik Software products. Nik Software products are award winning software. They great noise reduction software that helps improve the quality of photos you take with your digital SLR. Canon Carrying Case

Canon just announced something that would delight LeSportSac fans. It is official ladies and gentlemen; Canon will be teaming up with LeSportSac. The stylish PowerShot carrying case will be available in the usual bright and fun LeSportSac  colors. The carrying case will be available in Canon stores for only $38. The camera accessory is compatible with all of Canon’s Digital EIPH models. You can also use it for you’re a series models such as the A3000 IS and its PowerShot brother the A3100 IS. Cool right?

This was announced on March the 18th and the design from LeSportSac is exclusively made for Canon so whether you will be travelling to other parts of the world, there is no more need to carry one of those stiff-looking carrying cases since you already can get a colorful LeSportSac bag for your Canon camera.

Olympus Firmware Update

Digital camera manufacturer Olympus now has firmware for their Digital PEN model also known as the E-P 1. The new version offers a few improvements i.e.  resolving the issue in its former version the 1.2 level gauge display’s failure to move when in manual focus.

You can now update your firmware by going to the Olympus website. If you have an Olympus camera and Olympus lenses, you can get the newest firmware using your Olympus digital camera updater. If you do not have this, you should download it first and then proceed with the update. Make sure that you have your camera and your lenses when doing the update because it will not work without these two.

For those using an Olympus camera but use Panasonic lenses, you can download the update by using Olympus Studio or Olympus Master. If you are using Sigma lenses on your Olympus digital camera, the firmware can get its update by using the Olympus Digital Camera Updater.

Make Your Own Flash Bounce Card

Do you want a cheap yet effective flash bounce card? Here’s some good news folks, you can now make your very own flash bounce card –no need to buy it at the store. The people from the Los Angeles Digital Imaging Group also known as LADIG created a template that will help many budding photographers out there. This flash bounce card is something you can print out and just attach to your camera, cool ain’t it? How do you attach it? Well double sided tape will do but if you do not want to use double sided tape you can use a rubber band to attach the flash bounce card to your camera. To make the card sturdy, you would have to attach it to cardboard, simply paste it on cardboard and voila, you have a flash bounce car.

144 Million GB in a Card

If you want to save Avatar’s digital effects in your digital camera compact flash, you can get one of those 5.0 cards that could actually store the said digital effects a hundred times over. The Compact Flash Association recently announced its CF5.0 specification for its new sandisk cards. These new cards are very useful to photography enthusiasts since they are 48-bit addressing. It goes beyond the 137 GB storage limit and can even go to as high as the terabyte limit. These cards are mouthwatering because they can reach up to 144 petabytes i.e. 144 million GB. How cool is that? Now you can just shoot all you want and do the printing and the framing and the saving later.

Avatar’s digital special effects took one petabyte of storage so basically this little card will be able to save Avatar’s digital effects more than a hundred times.
